Shelby Liegl is Blazing Her Trail as a Student Leader and Animal Lover

TRAILBLAZERS...IN THEIR OWN WORDS

To say Shelby Liegl, ‘23, is an animal lover is an understatement. The Vincennes University Chemical Sciences 与一个  Pre-Veterinary concentration has many pets, including two dogs, two guinea pigs, and a Sulcata Tortoise. Learn more about the Evansville, Indiana, native’s animals later. 

Liegl’s future career plans stem from her love of animals. She aspires to become a veterinarian. She already works in a veterinary clinic and volunteers at an animal shelter. Her dream is to move to Colorado and become a wildlife veterinarian. While she works toward an associate degree, she is really enjoying being a college student. 

To Liegl the college experience is experiencing everything campus life has to offer. You are sure to see her at campus events. During Fall Semester 2022 Welcome Week, she even took a turn Djing with 澳门十大正规老牌网赌 mascot Trailblazer Willie at the Silent Headphone Disco.

Liegl is on track to graduate from 澳门十大正规老牌网赌 in 2023.

What are the names of your pets?

"My Sulcata Tortoise is named Flash. I have two dogs named Luna and Dorothy and two guinea pigs named Tigger and Jerome.”

Why do you want to become a veterinarian?

“I want to become a veterinarian to help animals in need. Animals have always been a big part of my life, and society cannot function without them, 因此, they deserve respect and proper health care.”

How did you become interested in Chemistry?

“Chemistry is a very large portion of education needed to enter into the veterinary program at any university. It is the building block for the medical field and is interesting to me in that regard.”

What has been your most significant experience at 澳门十大正规老牌网赌?

“My most significant experience at 澳门十大正规老牌网赌 has been being a part of the Campus Activities Board and Student Activities.”

What do you love the most about the clubs and organizations you participate in?

“The clubs and organizations I participate in at 澳门十大正规老牌网赌 are so much fun. I enjoy the events and community they help to build in like-minded people as well as those who have different perspectives. The clubs and organizations at 澳门十大正规老牌网赌 help me to further my education in a more hands-on way.”

How has a faculty member or other 澳门十大正规老牌网赌 employee positively impacted you?

“Student Activities Director Elizabeth Hutchinson has positively impacted me both educationally and, on a personal note, from advocating for me to supplying me with tools to succeed.”

What makes you a Trailblazer?

“My drive to do the best in all aspects both in the classroom and out.”
